The wedding fever has gripped Bollywood, and the excitement in the air is palpable. B-Town’s wild child Ranveer Singh and leading lady Deepika Padukone are all set to exchange garlands on November 14 and 15 at Villa del Balbianello, Lake Como, Italy.
The couple, who left for Italy in the wee hours of Saturday (November 10), exchanged rings after a Phool Muddi ceremony on November 13. For those unaware, in this traditional Konkani ceremony, the bride’s father welcomes the bridegroom’s parents. Deepika’s father Prakash Padukone gave Ranveer a coconut and formally welcomed him to the family. Following this, they exchanged rings.
Ranveer’s hair stylist Nitasha Gaurav, who has gone from India to attend the functions, tweeted yesterday, “No pictures, but it was love personified to see them together today. Couldn’t stop my tears, but these were tears of happiness.”
Ranveer and Deepika had a lavish sangeet ceremony this afternoon at Casta Diva, a luxury resort on the east side of Lake Como, in the pretty village of Blevio.
We told you earlier that Bollywood singer Harshdeep Kaur and her team were performing at the sangeet. The playlist included wedding favourites like Kala Sha Kala, Mehendi Hai Rachney Wali, Mehendi Ni Mehendi and Gur Naal Ishq Mitha. It was a Punjabi-style function, with guests dancing to beats of the dhol.
Ranveer took to the floor and sang Tune Maari Entriyaan from his film Gunday.
After the live music session, old Hindi classics like O Haseena Zulfon Wali were played by the DJ.
Ranveer and Deepika will have two wedding ceremonies to honour each other’s beliefs – one will follow Sindhi rituals, while the other will be according to Konkani tradition.
The wedding will be a close-knit affair, with friends and family members in attendance. Only a select few from the film fraternity have been invited, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Farah Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan.
Once they return to the country, Ranveer and Deepika will host two lavish wedding reception parties. On November 21, the Padukones will host their friends and family at the Leela in Bengalaru. For Ranveer and Deepika’s friends from Bollywood, there will be an extravagant party at Grand Hyatt in Mumbai on November 28.
