The final examinations of Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s hit and run case is now being carried out by the court of law. In which earlier it was reported that his then bodyguard’s statement, who is no longer alive to make any statements, might be taken into consideration.
According to reports, the prosecution had earlier made a request to record the statement of the evidence given by the actor’s then bodyguard constable Ravindra Patil, who died few years ago. According to which, Patil had stated that he was seated beside Salman Khan when the mishap took place and had warned the actor not to drive in such a condition but Salman paid him no heed. When he lodged the complaint, Patil had also revealed that Salman Khan was under the influence of alcohol during the accident.
The court has thus provided both the prosecution and the defense opportunity to look into late Ranvindra Patil’s statement and the validity of the same. Judge D W Deshpande gave the chance to both the parties to reply to the statement and announced that Salman Khan will be given an opportunity to explain the circumstances under which his late bodyguard Ravindra Patil gave the statement. Also, an opportunity would be provided to the accused to cross-examine the investigation officer in the context of evidence given by Patil and to clarify his own stand on it in the concluding defense argument.
No final verdict has been given regarding the validity of Ravindra Patil’s statement and the same will be decided gradually, said the court. The box office hit maker Salman Khan is currently busy shooting for his film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
